Brummie Of The Month

Pinch punch! It’s the first day of the month and that means it’s time for us to reveal June’s Brummie of the Month.
With summer finally kicking in, who better than hottie Letisha Gordon to add a little fire to the start of the new season.

The 23-year-old singer song writer has undoubtably one of the best voices in Birmingham. Teaming up with American artist Elhae, Letisha performed as one of his supporting acts for his Birmingham show last month at the O2 institute. Not bad for her first performance of the year.

Her recent collaboration with Akelle Charles (from WSTRN) and Tally have been smashing up the airwaves. The new track entitled “Waiting” produced by Brummies Young Thrill and Amaar, has been played on major radio stations such as BBC 1Xtra, The Beat London and of course Birmingham’s own Newstyle.

You already know that we like to pree! And we’ve noticed a few studio sessions on Snapchat and heard talks about new music on the way… maybe an EP? đź‘€

Akelle has also mentioned that a music video for ‘Waiting’ could be on the cards. So whilst you’re “waiting” for it (excuse the pun) you can listen to the guaranteed summer anthem of 2017 below.

Safone Ft Capo Lee – Gyal From Brum

Lovable Brummie Safone teams up with North London MC Capo Lee on a new track for the summer. Continuing with the ‘She Wants A Man From Brum’ wave, the lads have created a sick new tune produced by J Beats. The up tempo song will definitely have your head bopping and maybe even get you to shake a leg or two . However we won’t be trying to imitate MJ’s high kicks and moon walks but hey Safone sure knows how to pull it off.

Not only have the Lotto Boyzz taken over the month of May, but they have some big movements sliding their way also. Firstly being booked for like everything so if you haven’t seen or heard of them you will be very soon.

Secondly Ash and Lucas are one of the supporting acts for the J Hus tour. The Boyzz will be travelling around the UK this month. Starting from today where they will be performing up north in Newcastle and finishing off in Norwich. ‘The Birmingham show is on the 8th but unfortunately it is completely sold out.

Then we have recently seen a cheeky little snap of rapper Mist jamming to a song with the caption ‘Mist x Lotto Boyzz’ could this be Brummie collab alert, could it be released in their month? We will have to see, but that’s enough reading for now lets enjoy the Afro Bashment sound of Lotto Boyzz this bank holiday Monday.

Brummie Of The Month

April’s Brummie of the month is a gorgeous singer from Walsall (not exactly 0121 but we’ll take her under our wing).  She has featured on Drake’s recent EP ‘More Life’ performed with him at one of his London o2 Arena shows for his ‘Boy Meets World Tour’ came fourth in BBC music sound of 2017 and has accomplished all this plus more by the age of 19. Guessed who it is yet?

Yes! the soulful singer Jorja Smith has taken the Brummie crown this month. Jorja kicks off the FIRST show of her tour at Birmingham’s o2 Academy TONIGHT! Then all the other cities linger on after us. (See why she’s Brummie of the month now).

The Smith wave began last year with the release of ‘Blue Lights’ which speaks on police injustice and received a 2016 MOBO nomination for ‘Best Song’. The wave did not stop there and has been riding ever since, with festival bookings, magazine articles, radio appearances and more songs smashing YouTube views. Oh and did you know that the video for ‘Where Do I Go’ was filmed on Jorja’s Aunties banister, directed and edited by the Midlands beauty and received over two million views. Amazing right?

Jorja Smith is definitely the one to watch out for in 2017 her unique powerful voice and strong messages in her songs will take her places. Just to prove our point a little more here is the visual for her recent track ‘Beautiful Little Fools’. Written at the age of 16 and inspired by the book ‘The Great Gatsby’ where she speaks on the restrictions that society and established social constructs place upon women.
